Sunday Big Band

Two years ago, I founded this big band: the Sunday Big Band –

An “almost” woodwind big band for adults!

The Sunday Big Band consists of adult students who want to learn about and deepen their knowledge of the typical sound of a big band.A regular group has now been formed, which meets to rehearse, play and enjoy each other’s company. Every 4 to 6 weeks, for 3 hours on Sundays.

Here, we work on pieces together, slowly adding more pieces from different musical genres – in order to continue growing together as a big band.

To deepen their understanding of the music and improve their ensemble playing, I offer sectional rehearsals with the respective wind sections.

These sectional rehearsals take place with 4 or 5 players in my room at Schwedenstraße 14.

In the meantime, a regular group has formed that meets to rehearse, play and enjoy each other’s company. Every 4 to 6 weeks, for 3 hours on Sundays.

Here, we work on pieces together, and slowly more pieces from different musical genres are added – so that we can continue to grow together as a big band.

Who can participate?

Any adult with an instrument who wants to make music with like-minded people and learn about big band music is welcome to register.

You should have a good knowledge of reading music and chords, and enjoy reading music.

=> Sheet music and recordings for practising will be sent in advance by email. If you wish, you can also book a one-to-one lesson with me for a better overview and further tips.

=> When there are many registrations, I sometimes assign two people to the same position, with two players sometimes playing one part together and sometimes taking turns.

=> Or would you like to try the new Big Band?

=> If there are fewer registrations, the respective arrangement will still work.
If your instrument is not available in the “classical” arrangement (see below), I will create the sheet music for you individually (violin, bassoon, oboe, harp?….).

=> 90-minute rehearsals for the respective wind instrument sections
